When I was six, I walked into Camp Nejeda with my parents for family camp, not sure what to expect but hoping to have a fun weekend. I walked out with something more than I could have hoped for: confidence, and a community that understood what it meant to live with type 1 diabetes.
Now I’m proud to be part of the team that makes this camp possible for the next generation of kids. At Nejeda, no child is ever turned away for financial reasons. Donations help cover scholarships, programming, and even essentials like bathing suits, pillows, and sneakers—whatever it takes to make camp accessible.
Nejeda-thon is about more than steps. It’s about opening doors, lifting barriers, and ensuring that every child with type 1 has the chance to laugh, play, and grow in a place where they belong.
