Give the Gift of Summer: Support Camp Nejeda!
HELP SUPPORT MY HAPPY PLACE!!! Help us provide life-changing fun, support, and friendship for kids with T1D!
In February 1972, shortly before Valentine’s Day, I was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes, now known as T1D. I was in 4th grade when I was diagnosed, and all the kids in my class made me cards, which my teacher, hand delivered to my hospital room. My first two years of being a diabetic were a hard adjustment, but in the summer of 1974 my mom told me about a camp that was only for diabetic kids called Camp Nejeda. Even though at first I was unsure, I liked the idea of going to camp so I said yes, gathered my courage, and left home for the first time. I only attended Camp Nejeda for two years, but in that time I formed friendships, gained confidence, collected memories that have lasted me a lifetime and learned that I wasn't alone. Now, I volunteer at camp events, and attend the alumni weekend yearly. This year, I am fundraising for
NEJEDA-THON so that other T1D kids know that they’re not alone and they never feel the social isolation that can come from a chronic disease.
Join me in making an immediate and lasting impact for kids with type 1 diabetes!
Camp Nejeda is incredibly special to our family. It's a place where we've found fun, support, encouragement, validation, and friends -- and where kids with T1D get to be just kids. With your help, other kids with T1D and their families can experience this same sense of camaraderie and belonging!
Since 1958, Camp Nejeda has been dedicated to providing empowering summer camp and other programs for children with type 1 diabetes and their families. In addition to their eight weeks of traditional Summer Sleep-Away camp, they offer Family Camps, Day Camps, Spring & Fall weekend programs, Adult Programs, and much more. For 67 years, Camp Nejeda has been a home away from home for T1D campers and families, ensuring they can enjoy childhood without limits.
Let's support them!
