Give the Gift of Summer: Support Camp Nejeda!

Hi!

I'm Sara Andruska and here is my story:

I’m 12 years old. I was diagnosed with Type 1 when I was 4. I started visiting Camp Nejeda back in 2022, which is now one of my favorite places to go.

When I first came to camp 4 years ago, I was worried that I wouldn’t make any friends, but after I arrived on that first day, I felt right at home. Everyone was so accepting and nice. All of the campers and most of the counselors were Type 1 diabetics too, so they know exactly what it’s like to be me! Now after 4 years, I have made friends that I will have forever. I will be going to camp year after year to see those old friends, and make new ones too! One of my favorite things to do at Camp Nejeda is to play evening activities like Dutch Auction with my friends. I love it at Camp so much that someday I hope to take over Josh Cassidy’s job! He’s one of our most loved counselors now.

Nejeda-Thon is one of my favorite days of the year (aside from Christmas). It’s a lot of fun and we get to do so many cool activities like walking, arts and crafts, tattoos, and there was even a bounce house!

Camp Nejeda is incredibly special to me and my family. It's a place where we have found fun, support, encouragement, validation, and friends -- and where kids with T1D get to be just kids. With your help, other kids with T1D and their families can experience this same sense of camaraderie and belonging!

Since 1958, Camp Nejeda has been dedicated to providing empowering summer camp and other programs for children with Type 1 Diabetes and their families. It has been a home away from home for T1D campers, ensuring they can enjoy childhood without limits.
