This year was the first year that Wilson attended Camp Nejeda. Wilson has been a type 1 diabetic since he was 3 years old, 7.5 years. Most of that time, he has been only one of 2 or 3 in his whole school, and last year he was the only child with diabetes in school.

Wilson has always been amazing at handling his diabetes, and hardly ever complains about all the extra steps and decisions that need to be made every day; but it can be hard to be the only one around you every day who has to deal with this disease.

He had the best time at camp this summer, and was so excited to be around kids and counselors who TRULY understood him.

Here are Wilson's own words on why he believes it's important to donate to this camp:

"I think people should donate because it's a good place for diabetics and I think it would be really nice if more people knew about Camp Nejeda. For the first time I didn't feel alone, normally no one else understands me but at camp everyone did. I think it's important to be around other diabetics because you can ask each other questions, ask is this how it's supposed to be, because you have other people on the same systems as you. I also wanted to make new friends- have friends who REALLY understand you. It would be good for a lot of other diabetics to have the opportunity to come to camp!"
